Soprano technology: SHR and ICE cooling
ParamedSoprano is Alma Lasers' range of hair removal platforms. Its main difference from a classic single-spot pulse is the SHR method: the doctor glides the handpiece over the skin (In-Motion) while the device fires a series of low-energy pulses at high frequency. The follicle heats gradually, and the sapphire tip with ICE contact cooling draws heat away from the surface. Treatment is therefore easier to tolerate and suits skin types I–VI, including darker and tanned skin. Paramed is the only centre in Baku with four Soprano platforms. Contraindications apply; a specialist consultation is required.
How the doctor chooses the device
ParamedAt the consultation and test zone (3 AZN) the doctor assesses your skin type and hair colour and thickness. Fair skin and fine dark hair — alexandrite (Arion or Soprano ICE Alexandrite). Medium skin and the core range — diode 810 nm. Darker or tanned skin and deep coarse hair — Soprano Platinum or Titanium with Nd:YAG 1064 nm. Large areas are faster on Titanium. For 4 weeks before the course, no waxing, sugaring or tweezing — shaving only.
Four Soprano platforms at Paramed
ParamedAll models use SHR / In-Motion with ICE cooling; they differ in wavelengths and handpiece size.
- Soprano ICE Alexandrite Alexandrite 755 nm: fine and lighter dark hair on fair skin
- Soprano ICE Diode Diode 810 nm: the core follicle range
- Soprano Platinum 755 + 810 + 1064 nm: versatile across skin and hair types
- Soprano Titanium Three wavelengths at once in one handpiece, 4 cm² window — faster on large areas
Arion: 755 nm alexandrite (Alma Lasers, developed by WaveLight)
ParamedBesides Soprano, Paramed has a standalone Arion alexandrite laser (755 nm), also from the Alma Lasers portfolio. Arion was developed by Germany's WaveLight; Quantel bought WaveLight's aesthetic division in 2007, and Quantel Derma became part of Alma Lasers in 2012. It is a classic alexandrite — the same technology as Candela GentleLase. 755 nm light is well absorbed by melanin and works on fine and lighter dark hair on fair skin (types I–III). On darker skin types the doctor chooses Soprano with Nd:YAG 1064 nm.

FAQ
Paramed? Which hair removal devices does Paramed have? ⌄
Four Alma Lasers Soprano platforms — ICE Alexandrite, ICE Diode, Platinum and Titanium — plus a standalone Arion 755 nm alexandrite laser.
? Is Arion also an Alma Lasers device? ⌄
Yes. Arion was developed by Germany's WaveLight and passed to Alma Lasers in 2012 through Quantel Derma; it is now sold under the Alma brand. It is a separate device — a pure 755 nm alexandrite. 755 nm alexandrite is also built into Soprano ICE Alexandrite, Platinum and Titanium.
? Does it work on darker skin? ⌄
Yes, on Soprano: the SHR method and the Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelength allow treatment of skin types I–VI. The doctor does not use classic alexandrite on darker skin.
? How many sessions are needed? ⌄
Usually 6–8 sessions 4–6 weeks apart; the exact plan depends on the area, the hair and hormones.
? How much does it cost? ⌄
Test zone 3 AZN, underarms 8 AZN, bikini 20 AZN (Titanium 25 AZN), full legs 35 AZN, full body 79 AZN (Titanium 95 AZN).
