What is the alexandrite laser at 755 nm
ParamedThe alexandrite laser is a 755 nm laser, historically one of the most popular wavelengths for hair removal on light-to-medium skin (phototypes I–III). 755 nm is well absorbed by hair melanin and is effective on fine, light and sparse hair. In Baku searches for "alexandrite laser" often associate with the Candela GentleLase platform — we don't use it as a standalone device. Instead, at Paramed alexandrite 755 nm is built into the Alma Lasers Soprano Titanium platform and fires in a single impulse together with diode 810 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm. Contraindications apply, consultation required.

Why alexandrite 755 nm inside Soprano matters
Paramed- ✅ Effective on fine and light hair (via 755 nm)
- ✅ Versatile across phototypes — thanks to Nd:YAG 1064 nm in the same impulse
- ✅ One session covers follicles at different depths
- ✅ Fewer passes per area, shorter sessions
- ✅ More comfortable than point-pulse pure alexandrite
How a session goes
ParamedAt the consultation the doctor identifies phototype, hair type and density, and selects wavelengths and parameters. Cooling gel is applied; the practitioner glides the 4 cm² handpiece in motion (In-Motion). Active ICE contact cooling reduces discomfort. Session length depends on area: face 10–15 min, underarms 5–10 min, full legs 30–45 min.
Alexandrite 755 nm + Diode + Nd:YAG in one impulse
ParamedA classic alexandrite laser (e.g. Candela GentleLase) fires at one wavelength only — 755 nm. Soprano Titanium from Alma Lasers combines three wavelengths in one handpiece: alexandrite 755 nm, diode 810 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm. Alexandrite targets fine and light hair, diode covers the main follicle range, Nd:YAG enables safe treatment on dark phototypes (IV–VI) and deep follicles. SHR with In-Motion movement heats follicles gradually, and active sapphire-tip ICE contact cooling reduces discomfort. The 4 cm² window accelerates treatment of large areas: legs, back, chest, abdomen.
- Alexandrite 755 nm + Diode 810 nm + Nd:YAG 1064 nm in one flash
- Suits a wide phototype range — not only I–III as with pure alexandrite
- 4 cm² window — large areas faster than point pulses
- SHR + In-Motion — no sharp shots
- Sapphire-tip ICE contact cooling
- Paramed — only Baku clinic with 4 Soprano platforms
Preparation and aftercare
Paramed- Avoid active tanning 2 weeks before the session (sun and tanning bed)
- No waxing or plucking for 4 weeks before — follicles must contain hair roots
- Shaving the day before the procedure is fine
- No self-tanner or hydroquinone products
- Tell the doctor about any photosensitizing medications
- No tanning for 2 weeks, use SPF 30+
- Avoid saunas and steam baths for 48 hours
- No scrubs or acids for 5–7 days
- Moisturize with panthenol
- Between sessions, only shaving is allowed
Course plan
ParamedA course on alexandrite 755 nm + diode + Nd:YAG typically runs 5–8 sessions at 4–6 week intervals. Exact count depends on area, hair type, hormonal status and phototype. The goal is durable long-term hair reduction — results build over the course, not in one session.
Alexandrite vs Diode vs Nd:YAG: what suits you
Paramed- Best for fine and light hair
- High melanin selectivity
- Suits phototypes I–III
- Sensitive to tan and dark skin
- Pure 755 nm carries higher risk on IV–VI phototypes
- Versatile across hair thickness
- Well-suited for large areas
- Less phototype-sensitive
- Weaker than alexandrite on very fine, light hair
- Safe on dark phototypes (IV–VI)
- Works on deep follicles
- Less reactive to tan
- Weaker than alexandrite on fine light hair
- Alexandrite + Diode + Nd:YAG in one impulse
- Phototype/hair-tuned protocol without changing devices
- 4 cm² spot — large areas faster
- Active ICE contact cooling
- Parameters set individually at consultation

FAQ
Paramed? Do you have an alexandrite laser? ⌄
Yes — alexandrite 755 nm is built into our Soprano Titanium (Alma Lasers) platform. It fires in one handpiece together with diode 810 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm — three wavelengths in one impulse. We don't use a pure standalone alexandrite (e.g. Candela GentleLase) as a separate machine.
? How is alexandrite different from diode laser? ⌄
Alexandrite 755 nm is best on fine and light hair and suits light phototypes. Diode 810 nm is more versatile across hair thickness and less sensitive to phototype. On Soprano Titanium they work together.
? Can alexandrite be used on dark skin (phototypes IV–VI)? ⌄
Pure 755 nm alexandrite carries higher risk on darker skin — it reacts strongly with skin melanin. On Soprano Titanium the protocol shifts toward Nd:YAG 1064 nm for darker phototypes while keeping the three-wavelength impulse. The specific decision is made at consultation.
? Does alexandrite hurt? ⌄
Sensations are individual. ICE contact cooling and In-Motion movement noticeably reduce discomfort compared to classic point-pulse alexandrite.
? How many sessions on alexandrite are needed? ⌄
Typically 5–8 sessions at 4–6 week intervals. Exact plan depends on area, hair type and phototype — set at consultation.
? Can alexandrite be done in summer or on tanned skin? ⌄
Active tan is a relative contraindication for 755 nm alexandrite. We recommend avoiding sun for 2 weeks before and after. On tanned skin the protocol may shift toward Nd:YAG.
? How is Soprano Titanium with alexandrite different from Candela GentleLase? ⌄
Candela GentleLase is a single-wavelength 755 nm laser. Soprano Titanium combines alexandrite 755 nm + diode 810 nm + Nd:YAG 1064 nm in one handpiece, with a 4 cm² spot and active ICE contact cooling. This adds flexibility across phototypes and hair types on a single device.
? How much is a session on alexandrite 755 nm? ⌄
