The comparison in brief

Cynosure is a U.S. laser manufacturer. Their hair removal lineup includes Elite IQ and Elite+ (Alexandrite 755 nm + Nd:YAG 1064 nm with built-in Skintel melanin reader), Apogee+ (classic 755 nm alexandrite) and the diode Vectus. In Baku they're searched as "Cynosure hair removal", "Elite IQ Baku", "Apogee laser". At Paramed we don't use Cynosure as a standalone device — for hair removal we run Alma Lasers Soprano Titanium with alexandrite 755 nm + diode 810 nm + Nd:YAG 1064 nm in one handpiece, 4 cm² window, active ICE contact cooling. ALMA LASERS · SOPRANO ORIGINAL

Original Soprano platforms (Alma Lasers)

Paramed uses original Soprano ICE, Platinum and Titanium platforms by Alma Lasers (Israel), with original handpieces and safety-first protocols.

Why Soprano rather than Cynosure at Paramed

  • Three wavelengths in one handpiece — no wavelength switching
  • Active ICE contact cooling — higher comfort
  • 4 cm² spot + In-Motion — large areas faster
  • 4 Soprano platforms in one clinic — protocol matched to each area
  • Test zone 3 AZN — try the device before committing

How we pick the platform

At the consultation we assess phototype, hair type and density, skin condition. The specific Soprano device (ICE, Platinum or Titanium) and parameters are matched to that profile. If you've used Cynosure Elite IQ, Apogee+ or Vectus before, share that — it helps us pick comparable settings faster.

Cynosure and Soprano — quick technology overview

Cynosure Elite IQ / Elite+ is a dual-platform alexandrite 755 nm + Nd:YAG 1064 nm. Wavelengths are switched per phototype and hair type rather than fired together. Skintel measures melanin before the session. Cynosure Apogee+ is a classic stamping alexandrite (755 nm) for phototypes I–III. Cynosure Vectus is a diode platform (810 nm) with a large spot for big areas. Alma Lasers Soprano Titanium is also a diode platform but combines three wavelengths (alexandrite 755 nm + diode 810 nm + Nd:YAG 1064 nm) in a single handpiece, with SHR + In-Motion (gradual heating) and active ICE contact cooling. The 4 cm² spot speeds up large areas.

  • Cynosure Elite IQ / Elite+ — alex 755 + Nd:YAG 1064 (switchable)
  • Cynosure Apogee+ — point-pulse alexandrite 755 nm
  • Cynosure Vectus — diode 810 nm with large spot
  • Soprano Titanium — three wavelengths in one impulse
  • Soprano: SHR + In-Motion + ICE contact cooling

Course plan

A laser hair removal course typically runs 5–8 sessions at 4–6 week intervals regardless of platform. The goal is durable long-term hair reduction.

Cynosure vs Soprano — side by side

Cynosure Elite IQ / Elite+ (755 + 1064 nm)
Pros
  • Alex + Nd:YAG covers phototypes I–VI
  • Skintel — melanin reading before the session
  • High pulse power
  • Well-known American brand
Cons
  • Wavelengths switch — not fired in the same impulse
  • Cryogenic cooling rather than active contact
  • Point pulse — more passes on large areas
Cynosure Apogee+ (755 nm)
Pros
  • Classic alexandrite, established platform
  • Effective on fine, light hair
  • Suited to phototypes I–III
Cons
  • Single wavelength only
  • Restrictions on darker phototypes
  • Sensitivity to tanning
Cynosure Vectus (diode 810 nm)
Pros
  • Large spot for big areas
  • Versatile across hair thickness
  • Less sensitive to phototype
Cons
  • Single wavelength — no alex or Nd:YAG in the same impulse
  • Pulse-based, not In-Motion
Soprano Titanium (755 + 810 + 1064 nm)
Pros
  • Three wavelengths in one impulse (Alex + Diode + Nd:YAG)
  • 4 cm² spot — large areas faster
  • SHR + In-Motion — gradual heating
  • Active sapphire-tip ICE contact cooling
  • Safe on darker phototypes thanks to Nd:YAG
  • Paramed — only Baku clinic with 4 Soprano platforms
Cons
  • Parameters set individually at consultation

Contraindications (shared across Cynosure and Soprano)

  • ⚠️ Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • ⚠️ Active tan
  • ⚠️ Oncological conditions

FAQ

? Do you have Cynosure Elite IQ or Apogee?

No — we don't use a standalone Cynosure platform. For laser hair removal at Paramed we use Alma Lasers Soprano (ICE Alexandrite, ICE Diode, Platinum, Titanium). The 755 nm (alexandrite) and 1064 nm (Nd:YAG) wavelengths Cynosure offers are also present in Soprano.

? Cynosure or Soprano — which is better for hair removal?

There's no universal answer. With well-tuned parameters both systems deliver good results. Soprano Titanium combines alexandrite, diode and Nd:YAG in one impulse with ICE contact cooling — adding flexibility and comfort. Cynosure Elite IQ switches between 755 and 1064 nm, has Skintel for melanin reading, and uses cryogenic cooling. Selection depends on phototype, hair type and area.

? What is Skintel and is there an equivalent on Soprano?

Skintel is Cynosure's device for measuring skin melanin concentration before the session to refine parameters. On Soprano, parameters are tuned via clinical skin assessment plus a starting test zone (3 AZN), with safety ensured by ICE cooling and the gradual In-Motion technique. There is no direct Skintel equivalent.

? Cynosure or Soprano on dark skin?

Pure 755 nm alexandrite (e.g. Apogee+) carries higher risk on phototypes IV–VI. Elite IQ and Soprano Platinum/Titanium are safer thanks to Nd:YAG 1064 nm. Protocol is set at consultation.

? How is Cynosure Vectus different from Soprano on the diode side?

Vectus is a pulsed diode platform at 810 nm with a large spot. Soprano Titanium is also diode-architecture but with three wavelengths (755 + 810 + 1064 nm) fired in one impulse with In-Motion movement. Same 810 nm foundation, different design philosophy.

? How many sessions on Cynosure or Soprano?

Session count is driven by hair type and phototype, not device brand. A typical course is 5–8 sessions at 4–6 week intervals.

? How much is laser hair removal at Paramed?

Test zone 3 AZN, underarms 8 AZN, bikini 20 AZN, face 18 AZN, full legs 35 AZN, full body 79 AZN.
