Skin atrophy is a decrease in its thickness, density, and the amount of collagen fibers. It develops with age, after prolonged photoaging, due to hormonal changes, after aggressive peels, or prolonged use of topical corticosteroids. Signs include thin, 'transparent' skin that easily folds, visible capillaries and strands, and slow healing of minor injuries. Hyaluronic fillers can compensate for volume but do not restore the tissue itself. Polydeoxyribonucleotides (PDRN) are one of the few methods that activate the body's fibroblasts and stimulate the synthesis of new collagen and elastin. Enhanced formulas — Newest by Mastelli and Plinest — are particularly indicated for pronounced atrophy. At Paramed, we tailor a protocol based on the cause and area.
During the consultation, the doctor assesses the degree of atrophy, the cause (photoaging, hormonal, steroid-induced), and determines the areas. Newest or Plinest is injected with a fine needle using the micropapule and nappage technique into the dermis. For the neck, décolletage, and hands, a larger number of papules is often used. The session lasts 30–45 minutes, with topical anesthesia. The course consists of 4 procedures at intervals of 2–3 weeks, with maintenance every 3–4 months.
Biorevitalization hydrates and improves turgor but does not restore the collagen framework. PDRN activates fibroblasts — it is the only way to build up the dermal structure itself, not just its water balance.
Newest is an enhanced formula with a higher concentration of nucleotides, the main choice for pronounced atrophy. Plinest is a classic option for moderate thinning or for areas with good tolerance.
Yes, PDRN is one of the best tools for the neck and décolletage, where the skin is thin and atrophic. The consumption of the product is higher, usually 1–2 vials per session.
Slight thickening will be noticeable after the 2nd session. Visible restoration of density and elasticity will occur 2–3 months after the course.
Yes, this is one of the indications. However, it is important to first discontinue topical steroids (in consultation with the prescribing doctor) and allow the skin to stabilize.
Schedule a consultation at Paramed — the doctor will assess the atrophy and select a protocol: Newest, Plinest, or PhilArt FACE, in combination with biorevitalization or microneedling.
