Couperose is a persistent dilation of small facial blood vessels — red networks and spider veins on the cheeks, around the nose and on the chin, plus diffuse redness. Laser treatment at Paramed coagulates the dilated vessels without damaging the skin: the beam is absorbed by haemoglobin, the vessel seals and is no longer visible. We work on the Alma Harmony XL Pro platform (Dye-VL + long-pulse Nd:YAG 1064 nm) with contact cooling — no burns or scars. Contraindications apply.
The doctor assesses the type and depth of the vessels, selects the handpiece (Dye-VL and/or Nd:YAG) and the settings. The procedure takes 15–30 minutes and feels like light warm snaps. Temporary redness and mild swelling are possible and settle within 1–3 days.
The method relies on selective photothermolysis: laser energy is absorbed by haemoglobin inside the vessel and coagulates it, while contact cooling protects the epidermis. The Dye-VL handpiece (~540 nm) precisely clears superficial capillaries and diffuse redness, and the long-pulse Nd:YAG 1064 nm targets deeper, larger vessels. Settings are matched to the vessel type, depth and stage of couperose.
From a hereditary weakness of the vessel wall, hormonal factors, temperature swings, UV exposure, alcohol and stress. The laser clears already-dilated vessels; gentle care and sun protection help prevent new ones.
Couperose is visible dilated vessels; rosacea is a chronic condition with redness, flushing and sometimes papules. The laser is used for both; the doctor selects the approach.
Usually 2–4 depending on severity; the exact number is set at the consultation.
The procedure is comfortable — light warm pulses; anaesthesia is usually not required.
Contact cooling and precise settings minimise the risk; short-lived redness for 1–3 days is possible.
Book a couperose consultation — we'll assess the vessels and select a Dye-VL / Nd:YAG protocol.
